Remote Access setup

Remote Access setup for Macintosh OS 8.5 or later.

Step one. Click and hold on the Apple Menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen and drag down to the Contol Panels folder. Go to the Remote Access control panel and select it. Figure One.

Step two. When Remote Access opens, click in the circle for "Registered User" and enter your user name into the appropriate box; Figure Two.

then click on the arrow pointing at the word Setup on the upper left hand side and the rest of the conrol panel will open resembing Figure Two.

Step three. Enter your password into the appropriate box. Make sure that both username and password are in lower case (No Caps). Put a check in "Save Password" if you want to avoid having to enter your password each time you logon.

Note: If you are in an environment where other people use your Macintosh and personal security is a issue then leave your password blank so unauthorized users can not use your Internet account.

Step four. Go to the Remote Access menu and go down the list to TCP/IP. Figure Four
In the "Connect via:" select PPP In Name server address: (the lower left side box) type in Gulfnet's IP address. They are:

204.49.53.3
204.49.53.4

In box marked search domains type in: gnt.net then hit the return key and type it in again. Close the window, you will get a save changes message window that will pop up, figure Five: click yes. You are done!

Gulfnet tip: If you want to place an icon of Remote Access onto your desktop open your Macintosh hard drive icon, go into your System Folder and open your Contol Panels folder and locate your Remote Access control panel. While holding down the Option and Apple keys on the keyboard, click on the control panel and drag to your desktop. When you release the mouse button, you will have an alias of Remote Access on your desktop for easy use.
