Federation Iowa class Battleships-fac,

The Iowa is a conjectural design that I created for fun over the last two years. The basic idea are ships that are larger than standard dreadnoughts but not quite as huge as B10 or Federation Mars class but are ships of the advanced 1X-ship generation. They brake a huge number of Star Fleet Battles rules, but I figure what the hell! It is just a game, isn't it? I just wanted to have a little fun designing battleships in the grand tradition of W.W.II capital ships like the Iowa class or Yamato class battleships. The Iowa class and her sisters ships are broken down into the following naval construction contracts numbers:

Each subclass is noted above. The battleships use the first generation X rules. I wanted a super heavy phaser (PH4) to give my ships an edge against PPD or tractor-repulser beams other equally nasty heavy weapons likely to threaten Federation citizens or outposts. Ships carrying mega- photons can fire each turn, just allocate all the power needed for the usual two arming cycle in one. The advanced fire control computes draws a large amount of power when firing ph-4s, an additional one point of energy is allocated for each PH4 in addition to the fire control scanner amount. Players may substitute the optional mega-phaser rules in the P6 module in place of PH4s. The phaser cannons are mounted outside the port and starboard warp engines. I used CIC in place of flag bridge just to be a little different, basically they do the same thing;>) Some of the ships carry the FRAX afd system for improved point defense. Movement cost is =1.5 I know that the point value is really low, I just have not figured out a to gage them against threat force ships. Remember, this is just a game so feel free to change things around to suit your own fighting style! Peace through superor firepower!
