Initially, I mistook this gar for a sturgeon, but Jim Roberson of the International Game Fish Association was kind-enough to drop everything and run over to accurately identify the fish.

Dead Gar at Longwood Park, Partly Buried in Muck Beside Boat Ramp

Olive green water and weird foam that fell to the bottom like sand when disturbed and possibly a dead jellyfish--just out of reach, so I could not investigate further.

Foamy Stuff that falls to the bottom when disturbed was floating in clumps all over the Bayou surface in the vicinity of Longwood Park.

Pine flowers lay thick on the beach with a few dead minnows and anchovies.
